  1. Going through the list, it looks a lot better to play your 8 drops before combat:
    better before combat:
    Akroma, Angel of Wrath
    Silver Seraph
    Hoverguard Sweepers
    Sanguine Praetor
    Bogardan Hellkite
    Brimstone Dragon
    Hellkite Overlord
    Razia, Boros Archangel

    better after combat:
    Akron Legionnaire
    Denizen of the Deep
    Stormtide Leviathan
    Kederekt Leviathan

  2. this was also fun but your opponent made baffling decisions. is there any way to communicate with them directly?

  3. Thanks eidolon, that’s what I needed to look at and you’re completely right.

I think the real issue is that some board positions are so dominant that you just shouldn’t play eight-drops at all. For example, I played a game where my opponent had 8.5 Tails on turn 2, and tons of white mana. He or she got greedy, played an eight-drop, got Kederekt Leviathan, and I won. Maybe that risk is negligible too… but if you have a two- or three- turn clock and that kind of advantage I suspect you shouldn’t risk it. But I’m a pretty conservative player- too conservative, I’m sure.

QQ, yeah. The poison thing was really weird. I haven’t been able to get these games to fire in the tournament practice room, just in the casual room, so that might explain some of it. You can talk to your opponents via chat, but you know… it’s the internet. Results may vary.
